The Los Angeles Lakers just traded two players to the Utah Jazz in exchange for all-NBA defensive player Patrick Beverley. The movement raised a lot of eyebrows as he has had a nine-year beef with Russell Westbrook. Still, Jeanie Buss, Lakers owner, explained that the trade had nothing to do with the former MVP.
“I remember all the video that circulated when the Lakers brought in Matt Barnes and his relationship with Kobe over the years, and now he has become teammates with Kobe. We have seen this storyline before,” explained Buss.
It's not going to be easy to trade Russell Westbrook to the Jazz

Jeanie Buss continued explaining that the only reasons they traded for the 34-year-old player were because of his ability to play defense and because he can be a really good leader. The Lakers still have to make some moves, but bringing Beverley is a step forward.
“Pat Beverley was brought to play here to play defense. To be that guy that knows how to push his teammates. It has nothing to do with Russ,” concluded Buss, as she believes that Russell Westbrook and Patrick Beverley can play together to take this team to the playoffs.
According to reports, Patrick Beverley and Russell Westbrook have been in communication since the Lakers trade. Despite their long beef, it seems both players are nothing more than professionals and are ready to work together.
