It's official, the Lakers legend Pau Gasol has joined the other Lakers greats in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame tonight in what became an emotive night for everyone involved.
As expected, Pau Gasol gave an acceptance speech about the honor to be now a new member of the Hall of Fame and didn't waste the opportunity to talk about and thanked his late friend and former teammate Kobe Bryant.
"Where I got to know the person who elevated my game like no other. Who taught me what it took to win at the highest level, who show me how hard you had to work, and the mentality you need to have to be the best. The commitment you have to make, what it meant, what it took to be a leader...Kobe." Said Pau Gasol.
The Lakers fans got emotional with the message from Gasol who became a close friend of Kobe Bryant and together were able to win two back-to-back championships for the purple and gold franchise.
Gasol also thanked Vanessa and the girls as well as all his Lakers family members including Jeanie, Rob, Mitch Kupchak, DFish, Lamar Odom, Andrew Bynum, Luke Walton (who's was in attendance), Sasha, Jordan Farmar, Trevor Ariza, Metta World Peace. "This honor that I'm getting today is part of your own. I wouldn't be here without you."
