It's official, the Lakers have waived Mo Bamba and Shaquille Harrison but have continued. Also, the team has declined SG Malik Beasley's team option.
The fans wanted Pelinka to keep Bamba as he is a size center that could help the team, and the previous season didn't have the opportunity to prove he was worth it to keep.
But Pelinka smiles, as there's a reason why it matters these three players are no longer being part of the team with the free agency market coming up next:
If you want to see the Lakers keep Reaves, Rui, and DLo and have access to the full MLE ($12.4 mil), both Beasley & Bamba had to be cut. If they've kept one or both, most likely, LA would've been working with the Taxpayer MLE ($5 mil).
Declining the option on Beasley and not picking up Bamba's guarantee does not necessarily mean either player is done with the Lakers. Still possible to keep them, but obviously, if they are free agents, they could sign elsewhere.
