‘Right now, Dennis Schröder is better than Russell Westbrook’

The Los Angeles Lakers are still looking for players that can upgrade the team. They just traded for an all-NBA defensive player, Patrick Beverley. However, Beverley only improves the team on the defensive side of the ball. The Lakers still need to trade Russell Westbrook away, and sign more players to improve the roster.

There has been a rumor that the Lakers might be interested in bringing back Dennis Schröder. The point guard played for the Purple and Gold in the 2020-12 season. The team are now looking to see if there is a chance of bringing up the 28-year-old. According to NBA analyst Skip Bayless, Schröder is a better fit than Russell Westbrook.

“Right now, Dennis Schröder is better than Russell Westbrook,” Bayless said. “He would be more acceptable to LeBron, he would fit better next to LeBron and AD. He averaged 15 and 6 for the Lakers two years ago. He’s pretty nifty… Very good in the pick and roll. He would be much useful to LeBron and a better fit for LeBron than Russ would be… He’s not more delusional than Russell Westbrook about what his worth is,” explained the Undisputed host.

The truth is, that it’s more probable that neither of the two players will end up playing for the Lakers in the upcoming season. Russell Westbrook already has one foot out of the door, and Schröder isn’t that good for the Lakers to consider bringing him back.

The Lakers offer to Dennis Schröder

Dennis Schroder wasn’t the best fit for the Lakers in the 2020-21 season. However, the team still decided to give the German player a contract extension of $84 million. The point forward declined the offer and hit free agency, and didn’t get close to what he was offered.
