Even when the Lakers GM Rob Pelinka made magic happen at the trade deadline by making the right moves to make a clean slate and turn things around in the season that just ended, the past offseason was a disappointment for fans as they were promised a blockbuster trade that never happened in the last summer.

Things could be repeating, as the newest report has the Lakers GM Rob Pelinka and the front office not wanting to make a big move, as the team isn't in the position to go "big-game hunting," according to the ESPN's NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski.

"But there's no big-game hunting out there for this Laker organization," Wojnarowski said "In this league right now with a new collective bargaining agreement, you can't really…have three max contracts, three superstars and expect to have any depth on your roster. It's going to look a lot the same, but think about a team next year that goes the entire season, with [Rui] Hachimura, with [Austin] Reaves as your starter. They've got a chance to be very, very competitive in the West."

This report by Wojnarowski is exactly what the Lakers fans didn't want to hear, as names like Trae Young, Kyrie Irving, Chris Paul, Bradley Beal, and even Damian Lillard have been in the mix, but nothing of that is happening.

Rob Pelinka's plan for the Lakers next season

"It starts with keeping the players they have (Rui Hachimura and Austin Reaves). Their number 1 goal is they're not letting either of those two out of the building. They are gonna match offer sheets for them or see if they can get to an extension. D'Angelo Russell - can they get to a contract number that makes sense for them? They got their exception. They can go out in free agency and get another player. The Lakers and Clippers will be prominent in that conversation (CP3). There's no big game hunting for this organization. You can't expect to have 3 max contracts and have any depth on your roster. It's going to look a lot the same, but think about a team next year that goes the entire season [with this roster]." Said Wojnarowski.
