Since the LA Lakers got swept by the Nuggets and the season ended, the FO has been looking to build a stronger roster, and the first name to pop out to be traded is D'Angelo Russell, and the team is looking for a new guard.

The first name to pop out as a potential replacement for D-Lo has been Kyrie Irving, who is LeBron James' first option as he wants to reunite with him in LA after winning a championship together.

But the reports also have the Mavs trying to keep Irving and the Lakers pursuing Trae Young as a second option. But the newest information has the Lakers looking for another guard, not Irving, not Young, but a most accessible one.

The Toronto Raptors star Fred VanVleet who has a current salary of 27 million per year, could be LA's first option to sign from the potential exit of D'Angelo Russell. VanVleet is aimed to be an upgrade after Russell failed to help LA to win the WCF against the Denver Nuggets.

Kyrie Irving could be out of the picture for the Lakers

The Dallas Mavericks are not planning to help Kyrie Irving in a potential sign-and-trade, so the Lakers will have a hard time getting to sign the star. As a result, VanVleet became the number-one choice for LA as a potential new guard.
