It seems that the Los Angeles Lakers are going all in to re-sign the sophomore SG Austin Reaves and bring the best out of him with the latest plan from the front office led by GM Rob Pelinka and coach Darvin Ham.
The purple and gold are looking to upgrade their roster by keeping their young core and adding just the essential elements to make the jump to become a serious contender for the championship title after being swept in the past Western Conference Finals by the current reigning champions, the Denver Nuggets.
Chris Paul is now headed to the Washington Wizards as part of the blockbuster Bradley Beal trade deal that will see the three-time All-Star take his talents to the Phoenix Suns. Nevertheless, this hasn't stopped the Los Angeles Lakers from pursuing CP3 who currently has a salary of 28 million. In fact, LA may have taken a step closer toward finally bringing Paul to Hollywood now that reports have emerged of Washington's plans to reroute the veteran point guard in another trade.
According to NBA insider Marc Stein, "The Lakers' current Plan A, which calls for re-signing free agents Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura and trying to sign Chris Paul as a free agent should Paul make it to the open market in the wake of his inclusion in the Beal-to-Phoenix trade."
With the Lakers signing the experienced vet Chris Paul, they are looking to get a mentor-like figure for Reaves to have a good mix of experience and youth in their backcourt and to team up and bring the best game of both players in LA.
