The signing of Russell Westbrook was a complete disaster, so much so that the LA Lakers used head coach Frank Vogel as the scapegoat for that season's failure and fired him, even when he was the last coach to lead the Lakers franchise to their 17th NBA championship title.
They opted to go a different direction with first-time head coach Darvin Ham, and Vogel, after one year away, received an offer to lead the star-studded Phoenix Suns in a championship hunt for the 2023-24 campaign.
With Vogel now being the head of the Suns and returning to Los Angeles for both teams' second game, the Lakers organization didn't waste time to show some love to their former head coach, giving him a tribute video thanking him for his contributions to the organization.
The video has reminded the Lakers fans how good of a head coach Frank Vogel is, and despite the win, coach Darvin Ham's performance in the game vs. the Suns, had them missing Vogel and thinking about how bad Darvin has been, especially on his game strategy and team rotations.
The Lakers were close to losing a game that had the Phoenix Suns without two out of their three superstars, while coach Darvin Ham had most of his roster available. Darvin Ham's lineups and in-game decisions have left fans cold and asking the front office for his firing, even when the season has just started and the team has a 1-1 record.
