Los Angeles Lakers GM Rob Pelinka had a hard time this offseason, and with training camp starting tomorrow, the need to add players to complete the Lakers team's roster is imminent.
After losing some trade options in the past weeks, Pelinka now has his eyes on two players. First, the Lakers want to sign Matt Ryan on a non-guaranteed deal, who was with the Boston Celtics on a two-way contract last season.
Pelinka also has the four-year NBA veteran Dwayne Bacon, who is working toward training camp deals with the LA franchise. Later today, answers will be revealed, as is the LA Lakers Media Day.
While Ryan didn't have a meaningful role with the Celtics, he did perform well in the G-league, so if Matt can translate those performances into the NBA with the purple and gold, it could be such a low-cost, low-risk addition to the team that is still starving for a shooter.
The two franchises with the most rivalry are the LA Lakers and the Boston Celtics, so it is uncommon for players being part of both teams, but there have been some exceptions. The most recent one is Dennis Schröder, who didn't fare well with the Celtics and is returning to LA after some bumps on the road. Another notable case is Shaquille O'Neal, who, past his prime, played for Boston after being a Lakers icon.
