Ahead of a new NBA season, the Lakers have two spots available in their roster, but they are looking to add only one more player before the regular season starts and left the other option for later in the campaign.
The 14th and final spot available in this offseason is destined for a big center according to GM Rob Pelinka's statement. Recently The Athletic's Jovan Buha spoke to the Lakers Nation podcast and gave an inside look at the top five options the front office is considering for the last roster spot.
The first option remains to be Christian Wood, who has a preference to play with Miami Heat, but the Lakers have offered him the vet min, reason why the big player is still thinking about other options. Wood could be a great sub for Anthony Davis on the offensive end.
The second Lakers option is Bismack Biyombo who could be a great defensive option for the team, something usually coach Ham is looking on a player, their defensive skills. The third option is that the Lakers could want to wait and see how Colin Castleton does on practices in training camp and on LeBron James mini camp to see if he can fill that 14th roster spot.
The 4th and 5th options the Lakers currently have for the final roster spot before the regular season are Wenyen Gabriel and Tristan Thompson, both are free agents, both played in the last campaign and both have already chemistry with coach Ham and most of the roster.
