Every sport has its GOAT debate, but one of the most famous is the one the NBA has between LeBron James and Michael Jordan.

Usually, for the most recent NBA fans, LeBron James is considered the GOAT, and Michael Jordan is usually the top choice for the "old guard" fans, but the Lakers legend, Jerry West, thinks all of this is nonsense.

"Guys, this is the most ridiculous conversation you'll ever have," said the Lakers great on a recent appearance on Podcast P with Paul George, presented by Wave Sports + Entertainment. "… There are different eras, different changes. Athletes today, their athletic ability should be better. They should be better shooters."

"… But face it, they're copycats. If you put the other guy who got the same kind of skill, he'll look like he's trying to mimic the great guy. I don't buy into this goat stuff. My god. There's a lot of smelly goats around; I know that." Said, Jerry. This statement will surprise LeBron, who considers himself the NBA's GOAT.

LeBron James could become the GOAT next season

The Lakers superstar LeBron James will be able to accomplish what no other NBA player has done before; he is close to next season, breaking the 40K points mark, the 10K rebounds mark, and the 10K assists mark. No other player has come close to that. This would put an end to the GOAT debate for the ones that still have it.
