The fans are desperate about not having news about the LA Lakers re-signing Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura. And the Lakers Nation are anxious as different players have been declining offers with their team and hitting free agency. They are afraid the same will happen with Hachimura.

Even when it has been reported that Rui Hachimura does want to stay in Los Angeles, his recent comments of wanting to be in a team that he is happy with got nervous the fans and the front office, as Rui is contemplating other options.

And that's where the Lakers' secret weapon for keeping Hachimura in the Lakers enters, not only the planned 15 million per year they are willing to pay, but coach Assistant Phil Handy is the key.

Handy has stated that he wants to build a relationship with Rui and "hopefully get him back in a Lakers uniform." These words reveal that Hachimura could leave, but the team plans to return him.

One thing is sure for assistant coach Phil Handy, his loyalty is strong with the purple and gold, as he has come out and said to the press that he's not leaving the Lakers to join Frank Vogel's staff despite them working together in LA.
