The Los Angeles Lakers just started to make some moves in the offseason as they traded Talen Horton-Tucker and Stanley Johnson to the Utah Jazz in exchange for an all-NBA defensive player in Patrick Beverley. Now, according to NBA analyst, Colin Cowherd, he believes they should also trade for Donovan Mitchell.
The Lakers just upgraded their defensive side of the ball by adding a player with a defensive rating of 108 in his career, which is by far the best in their team. By adding Mitchell, they could also upgrade the offensive side of the ball as he has averaged 23.9 points, 4.5 assists and 4.2 rebounds in 345 regular-season games during his career.

Patrick Beverley is more valuable to the Lakers than Russell Westbrook
According to Cowherd, the trade made sense for the Lakers as they would send Westbrook away and his contract with him, “Danny Ainge is a draft-pick guy. … Would he eat Westbrook for those two draft picks? The Lakers had Donovan Mitchell, who I like. You get two draft picks and the Westbrook contract, which you can just write off and let him go.”
The Lakers have been linked to many players, including Donovan Mitchell. This could be a very interesting move. But the deal for the Pacers duo of Myles Turner and Buddy Hield could be more attractive for the Lakers. The Lakers are looking for a good player or players that they don’t have to send their first-round picks.
Donovan Mitchell had a great year last season as he was selected to his third all-star game, a result of 25.9 points, 5.3 assists and 4.2 rebounds. Mitchell could join James and Davis in the offensive side, but not so much on the defensive. Myles Turner and Buddy Hield can help on offense too, but they can also be good defenders.
