The Lakers just started to make some moves during the offseason as they traded away two young players to the Utah Jazz in exchange for all-NBA defensive player Patrick Beverley. This was a good move for the Lakers as they were in the bottom ten defensive team last season. However, there are rumors that say they could have added three quality players instead of one.
According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Lakers got involved in a potential three-team deal in the New York Knicks' pursuit of Donovan Mitchell. The deal would have the Lakers sending Russell Westbrook to the Jazz, as they were sending Donovan Mitchell to the Knicks. Meanwhile, the Lakers would’ve received Jordan Clarkson, Bojan Bogdanovic and Malik Beasley.

NBA insider grades the Patrick Beverley to the Lakers trade
Jordan Clarkson has become one of the best players off the bench in the league, winning the Sixth Man of the Year award last year. He finished the year with 16.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. Bojan Bogdanovic could’ve helped on the offensive side of the ball as he averaged 18.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 69 games while making 45.5% field goals and 38.7% from the three-point line.
Those two players, by themselves, would’ve added quality players to the most needed roster. But they would’ve added Malik Beasley too, who could've helped with some shooting, as he had 39.1% of field goals and 37.7% from the three-point line. However, the Lakers opted to choose Patrick Beverley and the possible trade ended there.
Patrick Beverley undoubtedly helps the team in a very needed position as the team didn’t really have defensive players. But with the other trade, they would’ve sent Russell Westbrook to another team and added players that could have upgraded the roster to more than only one player.
