As soon as the season ended for the LA Lakers with the disappointing sweep by the Denver Nuggets, the team started working on their options to improve their roster for the next campaign.

After making it to the West Conference Finals, the team has something good going up, and they are only looking to upgrade some positions to become a contender for the 2023-24 NBA championship.

Rob Pelinka and Darvin Ham are looking to the Toronto Raptors Guard Fred VanVleet as a possible upgrade from D'Angelo Russell. Still, other teams are interested in signing him, but the Philadelphia 76ers also want to.

To sign the PG, the Lakers are willing to offer 25 million annually to get him if they can trade him from D'Angelo Russell, as the current purple and gold PG has a 27 million salary.

Fred VanVleet is the Lakers' No. 1 option over Kyrie Irving and Trae Young

The Lakers were rumored to be looking to sign Kyrie Irving, then Trae Young's name surfaced, but a new report suggests that Fred VanVleet is the No. 1 choice of PG that the front office is pursuing this offseason.
