One of the most vital areas inside the Los Angeles Lakers franchise in the last few years has been their scouting department, led by Jesse Buss, Jeanie Buss' brother, as the Director of Scouting.

The Lakers have found 'gold' in the undrafted shooting guard Austin Reaves, who has become a team starter in less than two years and even has committed with the USA Basketball National team for the upcoming FIBA World Cup.

Pelinka and Jesse Buss are trying to go the same route with the undrafted player Colin Castleton, who got a two-way contract with LA after the NBA Draft 2023.

Castleton is a 6'11", 230-pound big man that played five college seasons, starting at Michigan for two years before finishing at Florida for his last three. He provides a tremendous paint presence on both ends of the floor, although he does not shoot. In his last season at Florida, he averaged 16.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 3.0 blocks in 31.2 minutes per game.

Mo Bamba's future could be affected thanks to Colin Castleton

With this young center, Mo Bamba's future is looking more and more feasible outside of the Los Angeles Lakers. At the moment, the purple and gold have, besides Bamba, the rookie Castleton, Wenyen Gabriel, and Tristan Thompson.
