The Los Angeles Lakers have a rich history, have won 17th championship titles, and have some of the greatest players in the NBA. Still, one Laker team had an impressive regular season record in the league and franchise history.
The 1971-1972 Lakers are not only the LA team in the franchise to have the best regular season but are the second team of all time, behind the mythical 1995-96 Chicago Bulls. The Lakers, led by Wilt Chamberlain and Jerry West, had an impressive Regular season record of 69-13.
Also, their playoff record was impressive, with 12-3. The purple and gold win their first championship since moving to LA. The Lakers were unstoppable this season. The team won 24 consecutive regular season games, which was a record for 24 seasons.
The LA franchise won a combined 81 games, a record that stood for 14 years. Going into the season, the Lakers owned a triple threat of Wilt Chamberlain, Elgin Baylor, and Jerry West in their 30s.
