Carmelo Anthony is one of LeBron James' closest friends, as their friendship comes from a long way since their high school days. Toward the end of Melo's career, he finally got to team up with the king, as James called him to join him in the Lakers.
But this might not have been possible if it wasn't for LeBron's heroics in 2015. The Lakers star is one of the greatest players on the court, but off the court, he did something heroic. LeBron James, Melo, and more were on vacation and decided to do the Banana Boat in the Bahamas, They went snorkeling, and just when they were wrapping up, everyone started swimming back to the boat, everyone other than Melo.
He stayed behind to check out a school of barracudas Suddenly a strong current rocked Melo and swept him away from the boat... As Melo tells it: He thought this was the end, the distance between him and the boat was rapidly growing larger and larger.
Recognizing his friend in peril… LeBron leaped into action He jumped off the back of the boat and swam to grab his future teammate, He scooped Melo in one arm and carried him while he used his other arm to swim back to safety.
Damon Wade now tells the story and recently said: “I’ve seen LeBron do a lot of amazing things on the court, off the court it was when he went and saved Melo’s life.”
