The Los Angeles Lakers franchise is a historic NBA team, not only because of their winning history but also because Dr. Jerry Buss purchased the LA franchise and drafted Magic Johnson in 1979, marking the beginning of the Showtime era.

With the hand of Buss, the lakers added an element of entertainment to gamedays that was unprecedented for the moment. There´s no doubt that the famously called “Showtime” group made history and made a precedent for what the Lakers are today.

More Lakers news:

Some of the names on the roster of the “Showtime” Lakers are NBA legends Kareem, Magic, James Worthy, Byron Scott, Michael Cooper, Pat Riley, and more. And after many years, the group that circles the mid-70s will have a reunion in Hawaii.

ESPN reporter Ramona Shelburne reported the news. The exciting thing is that the “Showtime” group will return to the place they used to practice in their playing days; maybe they will hoop a little just for the old day's sake.

The Showtime Lakers are more popular than ever thanks to recent tv shows and podcasts about it

Early this year, the tv show “Winning time,” a live-action fictional representation of the acquisition of the LA Franchise by Buss, and the beginning of the showtime era, made its rounds on streaming and got people buzzing about it. At the moment also, the documentary “Legacy: the true story of the Lakers” continues to air weekly. And now Lakers legend Abdul-Jabbar is premiering his podcast “Skyhook” about that same era.
