At this point, everyone in the NBA knows that Kobe Bryant was on another level, being one of the greatest players ever to play. Unfortunately, Bryant retires after scoring 60 points in his last game. But you probably didn´t know that there was a challenge behind it.

Shaquille O´Neal and Kobe Bryant made history together by playing for the purple and gold and winning championships. While they were not always best friends, they always had mutual respect.

Days before Kobe Bryant played his last game with the Lakers at their home in the Staples Center, what was called then. Bryant was on a tv show with Shaq as one of the commentators, and Kobe's former teammate threw him a challenge. 

O´Neal challenged Kobe Bryant to score 50 points in his last game at home. But Kobe not only delivered it but surpassed it, even after a rocky first half, when he didn´t perform at his best. At 37 years, Kobe, in the second half, performed well and scored 60 points in the game.

Jerry West knew that Shaquille and Kobe would lead the Lakers to greatness.

Former Lakers executive knew what he was doing when he signed Shaquille O´Neal and then 18-year-old Kobe Bryant as West told Shaq that the two of them would be making history with the Lakers and someday having their jersey numbers removed. And that´s exactly what they did.
