The Los Angeles Lakers are looking to improve their current roster to contend for the championship title the following season; one of the most critical positions they want to upgrade is the central role.
After being swept by the Denver Nuggets in the WCF, mainly from being unable to stop Nikola Jokic, the Lakers have been looking to get a center that can upgrade from what they currently have.
Wenyen Gabriel, Mo Bamba, and Tristan Thompson were the centers that had the team before the 2023 NBA Draft. Bamba didn't play in the postseason because of an injury and couldn't show what he could bring to the team.
Mo was said to be traded or leave the team as the primary option in free agency for the Lakers to pursue was Naz Reid, but the Timberwolves player and the team have reached an agreement. Now he won't become a free agent, and without any other good center option in the free agency market, the Lakers' best choice is already there, Mo Bamba.
In the 2023 NBA Draft, the Lakers signed a two-way contract with the undrafted center Colin Coleston who is giving hope to the Lakers fans of having a terrific prospect who can deliver something better than just Anthony Davis playing as the sole size center.
