This was the breakout season for Austin Reaves, and while many still call the Lakers SG overrated, he has constantly proved his worth; he once was compared to Jordan Poole, with many believing that the former Warriors SG was the better player.
Now, things have turned around, as Reaves has signed a max extension for four years worth 56 million with the Lakers, while the Warriors have traded Jordan Poole to the Washington Wizards.
Reaves is having a great year, not only the re-signing but also playing in the FIBA World Cup with Team USA, thanks to the coach Steve Kerr who selected the SG instead of his former player Jordan Poole.
But the lesson Reaves teaches Poole is how to live the franchise you play for. After signing the max extension, SG Austin Reaves posted a highlight video of his best moments with the purple and gold with the caption "Lakers for life." Meanwhile, Jordan Poole has looked miserable in the official pictures the Washington Wizards have released, showing he isn't happy with his trade or his current team. Reaves is grateful, and Jordan should learn from him.
The Lakers won yesterday in their Summer League debut, in considerable measure, thanks to the outstanding performance by SG Max Christie, who received MVP chants from the crowd. Later, when asked about how he felt with the crowd cheering and calling him MVP, Christie replied, “I feel like Austin (Reaves).”
