LeBron James and Draymond Green are close friends, and the rumor mill was at full speed after it was reported that the Warriors Forward declined his players' option with the Golden State and was seen a couple of days later with the Lakers star in France.
Fans thought it was a confirmation that LeBron would push the Lakers' front office to sign the free agent Draymond Green, but Green wants a 100 million salary. Pelinka isn't considering spending much money for a big name this offseason.
Still, fans were hoping for LeBron to convince Green to have a pay cut to play together, but another star could be recruiting Draymond to play on his team, the Trail-Blazers star Damian Lillard. Stephen Curry will lose one of his best teammates if Green signs with Portland.
With the rumors of Dame leaving Portland, if Green signs with the Trail-Blazers, Lillard would stay to contend for a championship. According to Dwight, Jaynes, Green, and Lillard are meeting in Portland tonight. This parts Green from playing alongside LeBron in Los Angeles.
After the 2020 championship title, the Lakers have heavily changed their team roster; this time, they want to run it back with most of the same roster to continue building on chemistry and culture; that's why Pelinka isn't thinking of bringing big names to keep the team's depth.
