The Lakers player of the summer has been Austin Reaves, right after having a breakout season, he signed a max extension with LA at the moment he hit free agency for four years and a 56 million deal.
Reaves also released his first signature shoes to impressive success by selling out in mere minutes. Now, Austin has been playing with Team USA ahead of the FIBA World Cup and the praises for his game hasn't stopped.
This time, Austin's Team USA teammate Mikal Bridges said "This ain't no underdog s-- no more, he's here." The Lakers star has received constant critics for being overhyped because of the media attention he gets for being a Purple and Gold player.
Bridges also spoke about Reaves' ability to draw fouls, something that gives Austin's rivals some big trouble "I’ve been a fan. … I think the biggest thing about him I like is that he knows how to draw a foul,” Bridges said. “He knows how to create fouls and get to the free-throw line and that’s like a skill. He’s not just getting there. There’s a skill to that and it’s very underrated. People don’t understand it but the ones that do, know how tough it is to guard. “That s—‘s an art.”
Reaves was no stranger to the free throw line during the 2022-23 season. He averaged 4.1 attempts per game, which on the surface appears to be low, but a deeper look shows he was among the NBA’s best at getting to the line.
