The Los Angeles Lakers had a busy first day on the free agency market; they made several movements to build and strengthen their current team roster.
One of the most critical tasks the GM Rob Pelinka had was to improve the point guard position, which has needed stability for a long time, especially after the Russell Westbrook fiasco.
One of the biggest names the Lakers were reported to have a strong interest in was the point guard from the Atlanta Hawks, Trae Young. Still, Pelinka went in another direction yesterday by signing the free agent from Miami Heat, who had just played in the NBA Finals, Gabe Vincent.
The Lakers signed Vincent for a three-year deal worth 33 million. And funny enough, the Hawks star Trae Young was on an Instagram live streaming when they heard about the news and reacted to it: "They say Gabe (Vincent) signed with the Lakers? Boy got paid. Contracts, Gabe."
Recently, ESPN made a 2024 mock draft where the No. 17 pick was the Atlanta Hawks selecting Bronny James, which made LeBron James have a hilarious reaction, basically saying the James gang will move to Atlanta, to what Trae Young reacted on Twitter by writing "Talk soon." Young would love to play alongside LeBron in the Hawks.
