Despite the Los Angeles Lakers win in the In-Season Tournament, the team isn't ready to be a full contender for the NBA 2023-24 championship title because they continue to be affected by many players being injured, including their best player: Anthony Davis.
If the Lakers learned anything from Friday's night game, it's that they need to find another Center on the market before the trade deadline. Not having a physical rim protector really makes things difficult if Anthony Davis is out.
That's the lesson GM Rob Pelinka and head coach Darvin Ham should've learned from the blowout loss that the team had to a San Antonio Spurs team that went to the game with an 18-game losing streak.
LA has Jaxson Hayes and Christian Wood as backup centers for AD, but neither of them has the same characteristics of the superstar and needs a big man who can be able to defend the rim when the superstar isn't on the court.
"Our team is not built to have three starters out. But you give credit where credit is due, San Antonio played great tonight. They shot the ball extremely well. they attacked us, and we were just limited with bodies," said LeBron James.
