This Lakers player will definitely be a starter for the team

The Los Angeles Lakers have one of the worst rosters in the whole NBA. True, they have LeBron James and Anthony Davis as their best players, but they can't carry the team as both players have often been injured.  Now they are trying to get a player or that can improve their chances of getting to the playoffs. But the team has a player that might have been overlooked in Austin Reaves.

After going undrafted in the 2021 NBA draft, Reaves signed a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Lakers on August 3, 2021. On September 27, he was signed to a standard NBA contract. Just a month later, Reaves made his NBA debut. Last year, he averaged 7.3 points and 3.2 rebounds in 61 regular-season games.

True, the Lakers will still try to land some big names before the start of the season. This roster, Austin Reaves included, looks worse on paper than the Lakers last season and they ended up missing the playoffs. If they want to get and compete in the postseason, they have to make some moves, to improve their chances.

It's worth noting that Reaves became only the 38th player to start in at least 19 games in his rookie season after entering the league as an undrafted free agent in the last 40 years. He was a reliable piece last season and hopefully he can do the same again this season, or even better, improve his numbers.

Players that the Lakers should add

Right now, the Lakers should be disappointed that they couldn't trade for Kyrie Irving. However, there are still some players out there that can help the team. Donovan Mitchell could be a great addition. If not, the Pacers duo of Buddy Hield and Myles Turner could help the team improve in size.
