Game One was for LeBron James and the Lakers, making Stephen Curry and the Warriors adjust for Game 2 in their pursuit of tying the series to win it then.
But after one game is clear that the LeBron-Curry rivalry will be different in this series. Magic and Bird. Russell and Chamberlain. LeBron and Steph. "What we're witnessing right now is something that we literally might not see for the next 20 years with guys playing at a high level and being the best on both teams in the playoffs." Says The Athletic's NBA insider Jovan Buha.
For the first time in the rivalry, it is Curry, not James, who needs to deliver a Herculean performance to win the series. Usually, Curry has had better teams to face LeBron; this time looks the other way around.
That's why this series will be unique, to see who can lead their team to advance to the Western Conference finals while the other star will have to go home and wait for the next season. LeBron James has hit first, now is Curry's time to respond.
The Fox Sports NBA analyst Nick Wright says, "The Lakers, who were in THIRTEENTH PLACE after the All-Star Break and were 50-1 to win the championship as recently as 45 days ago, are now down to 7-1 to win the NBA title, and just +250 to win the conference."
