The Lakers Icon Shaquille O'Neal has recently been named in a lawsuit for FTX Commercial, but he's playing dumb to distance himself from it

The NBA and Los Angeles Lakers Icon Shaquille O'Neal is using the dumb card to distance himself from a recent lawsuit that the cryptocurrency company FTX has received.

O'Neal was named in a lawsuit alongside other celebrities like the Tampa Bay QB Tom Brady and his ex-wife Gisele Bündchen. O'Neal said he didn't understand cryptocurrency and distanced himself from the case.

"I was just a paid spokesperson for a commercial," O'Neal said of his relationship with the cryptocurrency company. "Many people think I'm involved, but I was just a paid spokesperson for a commercial," O'Neal told CNBC Make It.

How Shaquille played dumb to distance himself from the FTX Company

Shaq admitted he wasn't fully aware of what he was promoting with the company or the success of cryptocurrency in general. "I don't understand it," he said of cryptocurrency, and said he "will probably stay away from it until I get a full understanding of what it is."
