While the Lakers got criticized for giving Westbrook a new role, the Clippers now get praised for doing the same

The stints between the LA Lakers and Russell Westbrook is one of the biggest failures the NBA franchise has had in its history, as the  PG became the highest-paid player in the team over Anthony Davis and LeBron James only to give some of his lowest career performances.

Last year, coach Darvin Ham tried to find him a new fitting role by making Westbrook come off the bench, but constant reports had the point guard being displeased with the decision even when he somewhat improved his game.

Still, it wasn't enough and that role that many applauded but others criticized made things end on a bad note between the two sides, as Westbrook constantly fought with the coaching staff, ending his stint with the team at the trade deadline as he was sent to Utah for Malik Beasley, D'Angelo Russell, and Jarred Vanderbilt.

Russ then was bought out and signed with the Clippers, now that he is starting another campaign in LA, after the James Harden signing, a new report by NBA insider Chris B. Haynes has Russell Westbrook requesting to come off the bench.

The NBA media is now celebrating the point guard and the Clippers

Unlike what happened with the Lakers, many believe the Clippers made the decision but are trying to make it sound like it was Russ's idea, still the NBA media is celebrating this decision, but when it was made by the Lakers, the backlash was real, as many believed you can't make an MVP player like Westbrook to come off the bench.
