Team USA has been dominant in Basketball, as the nation has the best players in the world, still, they should win each competition, the Olympics, the FIBA World Cup, and anything they play, but that isn't always the case.

But in 2019, the last FIBA World Cup was a failure. After Team USA won the gold medal back-to-back in 2010 and 2014, 2019 was a failure as they saw the most surprising result at the competition in modern history when they lost a stunning quarterfinal against France. The Americans came into the tournament with a solid team, stacked with many of the NBA's youngest stars.

However, they lacked the high-end star power of the 2010 and 2014 teams. Jayson Tatum and Donovan Mitchell led this squad, which had the highest ceiling in the tournament, but these two did not do anything in the final minutes of their quarterfinal matchup.

Four years later, we are about to start a new FIBA World Cup participation, this time with a younger version of Team USA that first faced some critics, especially because it included the Lakers young star Austin Reaves, but they have just finished an undefeated run of tune-up games leading to their debut tomorrow.

The rival to defeat Austin Reaves and Team USA

Spain has been dominant in the last few years, they won the FIBA World Cup in 2019 and most recently last year's EuroBasket tournament. Spain is one of the toughest rivals Austin Reaves and Team USA have to defeat. Another strong rival will be Canada which has several NBA stars on it, so Team USA which includes players like JJJ, Anthony Edwards, Haliburton, and Reaves won't have it easy.
