The 2023 NBA Draft is here, and without any surprises, the No. 1 pick that had San Antonio Spurs has selected the young French sensation Victor Wembanyama, who is set to be a generational talent and has created the kind of hype LeBron James had twenty years ago.
James was so impressive that he not only met the high expectations set on him but surpassed them and even became one of the greatest players in the NBA of all time to the point of contending for the GOAT place with Michael Jordan.
But now Wembanyama is creating that kind of expectation, so far, that the journalist that built his entire career on LeBron James, ESPN's Brian Windhorst, who has written four years on the Lakers superstar, thinks that Victor has more skills than the young LeBron James did back on the day.
Windhorst recently said: "I think [Wembanyama's] skill set... is ahead of where LeBron was at the same age." There's no denying that LeBron would be surprised to hear that, but he is calm as probably no one will be able to top the league with what he has done for twenty consecutive years.
The new San Antonio Spurs rookie, Victor Wembanyama, said that facing LeBron James will be unique but will feel weird. The bad news is that we won't be able to see both players face each other in their prime, as almost twenty years of age separates them.
