The Los Angeles Lakers had Rui Hachimura as one of their two top priorities to bring back this summer in the offseason, and on the first day of the free agency market, GM Rob Pelinka was able to re-sign Hachimura with a 3-year 51 million contract.
Hachimura is back, and not only that, but recent reports made by NBA insider Jovan Buha have coach Ham deciding to give the Japanese wing a starting role, meaning that Jarred Vanderbilt will be coming off the bench for the beginning of the regular season.
Hachimura has been active most of the offseason, working hard with Assistant Coach Phil Handy and skipping representing Japan in the upcoming FIBA World Cup.
With all of this, Vando also decided to put up the work and went to Japan to work out and keep developing with Phil Handy. The battle for the starting role has just begun. Coach Ham's strategy to bring out the best in his players starts coming to fruition.
Another Lakers player working out this offseason is the SF Cam Reddish, who is looking for an opportunity with the purple and gold to reach the potential that many believed he has to become a great player in the NBA.
