In 24 hours, the LA Lakers GM Rob Pelinka gave a masterclass on how it's done, as the front office was able to retain the core and get better around the edges on a budget and without big names, accomplishing their free agency goals.
The top priority was to bring back Rui Hachimura and Austin Reaves. The SG Reaves signed a four-year deal for 56 million, which is the max extension the team could offer for the undrafted player.
And while the Lakers fans are overall happy and excited about the current team's roster, there is one name they want back that a few days ago was reported was another of the priorities Pelinka had to bring back the SG Lonnie Walker.
But after all the movements the team has made, having 13 spots of the 15 available in the roster, and with Lakers insider Jovan Buha reporting the team is pursuing another big center and LA thinking of starting the season with only 14 players, it seems that Walker will be out of the purple and gold sooner than expected.
What began Friday afternoon with the Lakers luring starting guard Gabe Vincent from Miami wrapped up around lunch on Saturday when Austin Reaves committed to the Lakers, the organization agreeing to deals with Taurean Prince, Rui Hachimura, Cam Reddish, Jaxson Hayes, and D'Angelo Russell in between.
