The Lakers GM Rob Pelinka and head coach Darvin Ham needed help thinking about what to do with D'Angelo Russell after the last season ended, especially since they wanted to sign him the max extension after his regular season performances.

But once the postseason run happened for the purple and gold and D'Angelo Russell left a lot to be desired, they were looking to upgrade from the PG, and the name of Kyrie Irving immediately pop-up.

LeBron James hasn't hidden that he wants to reunite with his former Cleveland teammate, but Irving signed a new deal with the Mavs, and Pelinka re-signed with a two-year deal with the PG D'Angelo Russell. Gabe Vincent was also signed.

But after everything that happened, James still wants a reunion with Kyrie, as his recent IG story has gone viral. The Instagram account "hooper" posted a tweet from Twitter user @JohnnyHSD about Irving that said: "This has nothing to do with his "all-time ranking," but this is the best player with the ball in his hands we ever seen." James added the post to his Instagram story and wrote, "EVER!!!!!!!!!!"

LeBron James still wants a reunion with Irving and dangers Russell spot

D'Angelo Russell is making his best effort to stay in LA and earn a spot in coach Ham's team as the PG's starter, but with LeBron James still wanting to reunite with Kyrie Irving, things could change for the next season. This year is almost impossible for Irving to sign with the purple and gold, but next year remains a possibility, and Russell could be leaving LA, depending on the next season's outcome.
