Today the NBA world has been shocked by the deal that Head Coach Monty Williams and the Detroit Pistons have agreed on, as in principle is on a six-year worth 78.5 million.

NBA Insider Shams Charania reported this news, and with this deal, Williams has become the highest head coach earner in the entire league, as he will be earning 13.05 million per year.

The league's 2nd highest head coach earner is the San Antonio Spurs and legend Gregg Popovich with 11.5 million annually. The 3rd highest paid head coach is the Golden State Warriors Steve Kerr, with 9.5 million per year.

The 4th best-paid head coach in the league is the Miami Heat's Erik Spoelstra, with 8.5 million, a coach that has just led his team to this year's NBA Finals. The 5th highest-paid head coach is the Indiana Pacers Rick Carlisle, with 7.25 million annually.

Coach Darvin Ham's salary pales in comparison

While there's not an exact number for how much the Lakers head coach Darvin Ham earns per year, it has been said it ranks something between the 2M-5M annually, which completely pales compared to what Monty Williams will make. Ham just ended his first year as a head coach, but if he gets the ultimate goal of winning the championship title in his 2nd year, there's no doubt his salary will increase significantly.
