In the 2023 NBA Draft, the Lakers had two picks and got used to them, one being Jalen Hood-Schifino, a guard that LA selected with the No. 17 overall pick.
The other player is Maxwell Lewis the overall No. 40 pick. Lewis has even been signed for four years, as a clear bet for the future by the Lakers.
Lewis was one of the standouts for the Lakers in the Summer League, and despite being selected after Hood-Schifino, the purple and gold seem to have more faith in Max after signing him with a four-year deal.
A recent video of Max Lewis training hard has shown how the rookie is preparing for his first year in the NBA and hasn't stopped all the offseason to be ready.
In total, for the 2023-24 season, the Lakers will count on five rookies, of which coach Darvin Ham will have a hard time giving enough playing time but could use when necessary. Besides JHS and Lewis, the other rookies are Colin Castleton, D'Moi Hodge and Alex Fudge.
