Austin Reaves cemented himself as one of the best players for the Lakers in the past season, but he could be part of another team instead of playing in LA

The Los Angeles Lakers SG Austin Reaves has revealed how he could've been playing for another franchise instead of being in LA. By now is known that Reaves has been a successful story for an undrafted player and the purple and gold team.

But ways could've been gone differently than have been, as Reaves decided to go undrafted to have an opportunity with the Lakers. Austin bet on himself and the LA franchise.

Austin recently was a guest on the "All the Smoke" podcast, where he revealed the team that rejected being drafted in the second round to sign with Pelinka and the Lakers.

Reaves declined the Detroit Pistons, who were looking to draft him 42nd in 2021, as he felt going undrafted and signing with the Lakers was a better fit. The rest is history.

Austin Reaves set the path for other players

In the recent 2023 NBA Draft, the young center Colin Castleton decided to go the same path that Austin Reaves, as he had different teams interested in drafting him in the second round, instead chose to go undrafted to sign with the Lakers as he believed to be a better fit for him.
