Before being signed by the LA Lakers for the playoffs, Shaquille Harrison had an outstanding campaign with the South Bay in the G-League

Los Angeles Lakers guard Shaquille Harrison was playing with the South Bay Lakers in the G-League before making the jump to LA for the NBA playoffs.

Shaquille Harrison has been named to the 2022-23 NBA G League All-Defensive Team. In 32 regular season games (all starts) for South Bay this season, Harrison averaged 2.1 steals per game which tied for the third-best mark in the NBA G League.

Among league guards, Harrison finished second in defensive rebounds (165) and third in total blocks (29). Overall, the 29-year-old averaged 13.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 8.3 assists in 32.5 minutes for South Bay this season.

The 2022 Kia NBA G League Defensive Player of the Year has now been named to the NBA G League All-Defensive Team in back-to-back seasons. In 143 career NBA G League games (82 starts) suiting up for South Bay (2022-23), Delaware (2021-22), and Northern Arizona (2016-18), Harrison has averaged 11.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.8 steals in 29.7 minutes.

Shaquille Harrison debuted with the Lakers in Game 2 vs. the Warriors

After becoming part of the Lakers team roster, Harrison was able to play 9 minutes against the Warriors in the blown-out loss. Sadly he had zero scored points but got one rebound and one assist.
