The Jazz are going to ask for a lot if the Lakers want to trade Russell Westbrook away.

The Los Angeles Lakers have been trying to trade Russell Westbrook away for a couple of months now. So far, there has been no answer from any team. But according to reports, the Utah Jazz are the frontrunners to accept a trade for the former MVP.

The Utah Jazz and the Lakers just made a trade not so long ago involving two young players from the Lakers and Patrick Beverley from the Jazz. According to NBA insider Jovan Buha, if the Purple and Gold want to send the former MVP away, they'll have to send two first round picks too.

Jeanie Buss believed "changes needed to be made" for next season

Russell Westbrook and Patrick Beverley ready to play together

“With Danny Ainge, anytime he’s involved with the Lakers, let’s be clear, Ainge is going to try to squeeze the Lakers like a freshly squeezed glass of orange juice. I don’t think there’s any way he’s going to Utah without the two first-round picks. If anything, Ainge is going to try and get them both unprotected like he’s trying to do with the Knicks and get as many unprotected picks as possible (for Donovan Mitchell).”

The Lakers should no doubt send their two first round picks. Not only because that would mean they will free the $47.1 million contract, but also because they are in a ‘win-now’ mentality. Donovan Mitchell can definitely  help the team to win this season and the next.

The worth of two first-round picks

The Lakers wanted to trade for Kyrie Irving but that didn't happen. Still, the team wanted to trade Russ and two picks. Now, they don't want to send the two picks despite the fact that they can make themselves way better for the next season.
