The fans were excited to see a new game from the Los Angeles Lakers, and the hype was high with what supposedly was to be a great Summer League team for LA with the new rookies and the returning players led by Max Christie.

But the Miami Heat dominated the purple and gold the entire game, and the Laker's new draft picks, Jalen Hood-Schifino and Maxwell Lewis didn't have the dream debut with the team.

The undrafted player with a two-way contract with the team that did start with the right foot was the young center Colin Castleton who had an excellent first game.

It wasn't the most outstanding performance by Castleton, but it showed a lot of promise and some room for improvement; with some work with the Lakers coaching staff, Colin could become an excellent asset for the team shortly.

The player that outshined Jalen Hood-Schifino

The Lakers selected Jalen Hood-Schifino with their No. 17 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft and wasted the opportunity of choosing Jaime Jaquez Jr., who outshined the LA's rookie and was picked by the Miami Heat at the No. 18 in the draft.
